Firstly, you need to get everything you are taking with you on that adventure
travel holiday, sorted out into some sort of order, so you don’t forget anything.
Everyone has different methods of sorting and packing and I have found over the years the
best formula for me. I used to have my suitcase packed weeks before I was due to leave and I found that I was
forever going through my case, checking if I put something in I would need or if I had forgotten it.

the worlds most luxurious cruise ships. Best of all, you can do this even
if you have little or no experience in anything.

The Best Kept Secrets in Travel
After constantly messing my clothes around, I decided that I would make a list up of
everything I would need, including passport, airline ticket, visa card, etc. I would add to
my list whenever I thought of something else I may need to take. On either the
day before or the day of departure, I would just pack each item on my list, one
at a time and mark off as I went. This way I was sure that I had everything on
it and no messing around the case searching for things I may have forgotten.
How to pack and what to wear:
Have you ever carefully packed your clothes that have been beautifully ironed and folded
into your case only to discover them all creased, tossed around and completely
messed up when you open your case at the other end? If you have ever watched the
baggage handler’s while you are waiting for your plane to lift off, then you
will understand the reason they may look like they have been through a war zone.

Have you given careful consideration to the type of clothes that are best for adventure travel?
If you are going on an international travel holiday, to a country during summertime or even spring and autumn then the
best clothes to take are definitely things like drip dry, non iron, silk and light cottons.
Linen feels great but it creases so easily that I always avoid that like the plague.
When you are going to pack your clothes, go through what you have on your list and
discard at least half of what you think you will need. Trust me on this one, if
you have never traveled before you will soon learn that you will be lucky to
wear a third of what you pack on your first trip.
Now make several piles by laying one garment on top of the other, on the bed. Now roll the clothes up,
making sure you have no pressed creases. When you have your nice little piles of
rolled up clothes, lay them in your case, lined up like sardines in a tin. You
will find that not only do they take up much less room so you can use a much
smaller case, but when you reach your holiday destination and open your case up,
your clothes will still be in nice little rolled up piles.
The most important items that you need to take are shoes. Always take good old faithful walking

shoes for all your sightseeing. Don’t worry about making a fashion
statement while on holidays unless you want to spend most of them nursing
blisters on your feet. If you are worried about this, take a look around at all
the seasoned travelers and what they are wearing. Most will be in flat leather
sandals or else gym shoes. I always take a nice strappy pair of leather sandals
in a neutral colour to wear out at night time if I am dining out or going
somewhere that I won’t be doing a lot of walking. If you are taking cruise
holidays and going to be on a cruise ship
then obviously you will want to take a few different nice shoes or sandals to go
with your evening gowns for dancing or cocktail nights.

Discover how to get free airline
tickets & travel the world on a shoestring budget...
Travel Agent tells his secrets
I've been beating the airlines at their own game for more than 9 years, flying almost free 98% of the time.
You can use the same strategy that I've used to get 57 free airline tickets over the last 9 years.
Even though the price of airline tickets have gone out of site because of skyrocketing fuel prices and
increased costs of airport security, there's still a way you can beat the system's high prices.

First aid:
If you are going to be traveling international, through countries that are very humid or do not have
the best sanitary conditions then I strongly advise you to make up a small first
aid kit and carry it with you always. You may have your international medical insurance but for
small emergencies you may need a small first aid kit. You do not need to go out and buy an
expensive kit when a few simple items found in your bathroom cabinet will do the
job. All you need is a small bottle of Betadine (iodine), a few band aids, a small crepe bandage,
aloe Vera, antibiotic cream and don’t forget the Imodium tablets and pain killers.
Always take your maximum strength sunscreen with you, including lip balm with a high protectant in it
and some after sun moisturiser for when you are going to be outdoors.
Mixing with the Locals:
If you are going to another country it is always advisable to talk to people who have
regularly traveled there and ask them about any local customs or events etc that
you should be aware of. This is very important when dealing with different
cultures as what may be acceptable in one place, will not be somewhere else.
I have always loved getting involved with the locals as it not only gives you a chance
to see how others live but it also builds rapport with them and lets them see
that you are interested in who they are and how they live.
Never be condescending, patronizing or belittle people of a different culture as this not
only is very hurtful to them but also very insulting, especially when it is to do with their religion.
Before you leave your own country try and get the name of a driver that someone has used and recommends
as this can save you a lot of hassles and can be so much fun, driving around with one of the locals.
If you have been recommended to them, they will always go out of their way to do the
right thing by you as they know that you will also then refer them to others
when you get back home. I have used a driver in Bali several times and even if
it is a few years since you were there last, he will always remember your name
and details about you that you have told him in the past.
If you go out of your way to be friendly to the local people you will make a lot of new
friends who will always remember you and help you as much as they can to make
your stay so much more enjoyable. Always tip them for little services as a
dollar to us may be enough to feed an entire family to them.
